Just before New Year, the mother of Stephanie Smith got a very nice present. Nine weeks ago, she fell into a coma caused by eating a hamburger that was tainted with E. coli. This past week she came out of the coma, giving everyone in the town of Cold Spring, Minnesota — and beyond — a Christmas miracle of sorts.
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Stephanie can move her fingers and wink. Doctors don’t know if the dance instructor will be able to make a full recovery after such a prolonged coma.
