MORE STRINGENT BEEF LABELING TO BE CONSIDERED

April 2nd, 2008 · No Comments · E. Coli, Food Borne Illness, Food Safety, USDA

One of the subjects that will be discussed at the Food Summit in Washington, D.C., on April 9 and 10: should USDA label beef products that may have E. coli as ‘adulterated’ even if they will be further processed in a way that will definitely kill the bacteria.

Though it sounds like it is more of a p.r. move than for actual food safety, according to Cattle Network magazine the FSIS believes there is enough meat on the bone to consider the issue.
