THE TOMATO VINE — Updates on an epidemic

The Commissioner of the FDA talks about the tomato salmonella epidemic (which is officially at 228 people in 23 states, but probably many more) in his weekly column, “Andy’s Take.” The source of the problem has not yet been identified, but many tomato varieties have been deemed safe.

The FDA has also published a list of places of origin that have been tested safe for tomatoes, as well as just about anything else having to do with the current state of their investigation, advice to restaurants, etc.
