SPICY, MILD OR TAINTED? — FDA researching salsa ingredients for salmonella

Known Associates of Tomatoes — Cilantro, Jalapeno Pepper, and Serrano Pepper

Though the FDA hasn’t yet issued a warning against salsa, it is expanding its search for the source of the salmonella outbreak to include cilantro, jalapeno peppers and Serrano peppers, ingredients in the condiment along with tomatoes.

So far, there have been 943 reported cases in 40 states, with 130 people hospitalized.
