CADBURY PULLS CHOCOLATES FOR POSSIBLE MELAMINE CONTAMINATION

September 29th, 2008 · No Comments · FDA, Food Borne Illness, Food Safety

Cadbury said this morning that it was recalling all 11 of its chocolate products made in China over concern that they could be contaminated with melamine.

Several chocolates and other milk-based products have been pulled from shelves in China in recent weeks because of widespread contamination from a known carcinogen melamine. Over 40 Chinese milk processors purposely put the melamine in watered down milk to give it the appearance of thicker, more protein-rich milk.

The FDA keeps a list of possible contaminated products on its website.
