FDA FINDS ONE OF THE SOURCES OF SALMONELLA SAINTPAUL

The FDA has announced that it has traced back the source salmonella saintpaul outbreak to a farm in Mexico that grows Serrano peppers, and has issued a warning against consuming any Serrano peppers from Mexico, and any foods that may contain it. It is still warning against consuming jalapeno peppers, too.

RECALLS OF PEPPERS STARTING

Two companes are recalling peppers and other products, according to the FDA.
Agricola Zaragoza, of McAllen, Texas, is recalling jalapeno peppers that were infected with the same strain of salmonella saintpaul that is responsible for more than 1,200 illnesses. TOMATOES OFFICIALLY CLEARED

What has been suspected for over a month and has been known for a couple of weeks is now officially official. The FDA has lifted its warning on all tomatoes and is instead telling those with particularly weak immune systems to stay away from jalapeno and serrano peppers.

Known Associates of Tomatoes — Cilantro, Jalapeno Pepper, and Serrano Pepper
Though the FDA hasn’t yet issued a warning against salsa, it is expanding its search for the source of the salmonella outbreak to include cilantro, jalapeno peppers and Serrano peppers, ingredients in the condiment along with tomatoes.
